Treating Addiction with Bowtech

Bowtech is a dynamic system of muscle and connective tissue
therapy that is improving health care world wide. For more
than 50 years it has been used successfully to treat thousands of
people suffering from a variety of illnesses ranging from back problems, stress related illnesses and addiction.

Bowtech is a unique system that has amazed therapists of all
disciplines especially with the work with alcohol and drug addiction problems. The gentle moves on soft tissue reset muscle memory,
empowering the body’s own resources to heal itself. Bowtech is
safe to use on anyone from neonates to the aged and produces
lasting relief from pain and discomfort. Orthodox and alternative
therapists alike have been generous in their praise for this
technique.

Bowtech balances the body to allow it to heal itself. The work
consists of a series of precise moves on specific points of
the body. These moves are gentle and can be done through light
clothing. There are frequent and important pauses between each
series of moves giving the body time to benefit from each.

Although individual moves used alone may produce a positive
effect, the full benefit of the technique is gained through a
complementary series of moves. Only a limited number of
sequences are needed each session so the technique is simple
to do and gentle on the patient. Mr. Tom Bowen developed the
therapy now known as Bowen in Geelong, Victoria.

In 1974 he invited Mr. Oswald Rentsch and his wife Elaine to
study with him. Mr. Bowen had no notes, charts or manuals but
under the guidance of Mr. Bowen, the Rentschs observed and
documented his technique.

Dedicated to preserving the technique and ensuring it was taught
in its original form, the Rentschs founded the Bowen Therapy
Academy of Australia in 1987 naming it Bowtech – the Bowen
Technique.

Bowtech is an essential tool to facilitate whole body healing.
Bowtech moves enable incredible results by activating the body’s
own ability to reset itself, therefore stimulating an immediate
healing process. Bowtech leaves one with a feeling of deep
relaxation.

The recognition of the body as a complex unit dependent on the
balance of the emotional and cognitive aspects of the individual is
integral to the success of Bowtech which is proving to be a
great discovery for the health care world.

Dr. JoAnne Whitaker, MD was appointed Bowtech’s international
director or research in the early 1990’s.

Dr. Whitaker says “I was facing a hip replacement and back
surgery when I discovered the Bowen Technique. After taking the
Bowen course, not only was I able to walk but I went back to
playing golf … without surgery.”

Dr. Whitaker has held senior medical and academic posts
throughout America, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as being the
first medical director of Florida’s original hospice. She took the
original course with the Australians Ossie and Elaine Rentsch in
Portland, Oregon. She was so impressed that she followed them
back to Australia to take every course they gave and now treats
patients with ailments ranging from bunions to heart disease.

New Zealand Osteopath Lou Hassik states:- The Bowen
Technique has made my previous approach to human health care
redundant. I now consider Bowtech to be the most important
health care discovery in human history.

The Bowen Technique will address conditions such as:

  • Sciatica
  • Ankle Sprains
  • Knee Problems
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Migraine Symptoms
  • Stress & Tension Discomfort
  • Menstrual Irregularities
  • Brochial Symptoms
  • Neck Restrictions
  • Back Pain
  • RSI

One does not have to be unwell to benefit from a Bowen treatment.
It is an ideal way to help the body function at an optimum state of
health and efficiency. Olympians and professional sports people
from around the world have been treated with the Bowen
Technique. Tests have shown that athletes have a consistently
higher performance output and excellent injury recovery rate.

Bowtech has been taught and is widely accepted in Australia, New
Zealand, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom.
