Landholders’ actions are the key to managing Australia’s landscape for profit and sustainability.  Farmers in particular have a strong tradition of productivity growth and problem-solving; they are receptive to information about new technologies and quick to innovate with their own trials.   The challenge now is to develop new farming systems for different climatic zones and involve farmers in their assessment.

FFI CRC recognises the diversity of services to farmers’ information and business decision needs, how they have changed in recent times and the importance of a strong relationship with this sector if information is to reach farmers quickly.  FFI CRC sees itself as a ‘knowledge generator’, with agricultural and natural resource management companies and organisations, including leading farmers, as influential communicators.

To accelerate the adoption of new technology and farming systems, FFI CRC will establish a new category of associate members.  The goal is to strengthen commercialisation through their connections to industry groups and regional networks supporting individual farmers.  For some projects producer networks and farmer demonstration sites will interpret and add value to core research sites.

FFI CRC encourages and welcomes expressions of interest in joining as an FFI Associate.
