Obtaining a scholarship in the CRC
updated 15th July 2008
Scholarship details
FFI CRC scholarships are offered with an annual stipend of $28,000 tax free, plus $5000/yr for operating costs. The CRC offers a range of full, top-up and matching scholarships across our participating universities. Each scholarship will be offered for a three year period with an option to extend this period to 3.5 years should extenuating circumstances prevent the completion of projects within the three year timeframe.
Project scholarships (available now)
The CRC has a large number of Project scholarships that have been developed by our key researchers to address research questions that are of particular relevance to the CRC. The projects span the whole CRC research program and individual projects could be developed further in discussion with potential supervisors. The list also includes potential supervisors of projects to facilitate lines of communication to develop these topics further. If in any doubt please contact the Education Manager, Daryll Richardson for advice.

We are currently seeking applicants to fill up to six of these projects for immediate start.
General Scholarships
In 2008 the CRC wil conduct its' annual general scholarship selection process. The general scholarship selection process is timed to coincide with the University postgraduate recruitment cycle. General scholarships allow a degree of flexibilityfor applicants to negotiate research topics with potential supervisors, provided that the research topic is compatible with the CRC's aims and adds to the body of knowledge developed by the CRC. There will be a limited number of general scholarships available.
The structure of the CRC means that there are additional 'layers' of criteria that influence the distribution of these scholarships. While the primary criteria in all cases will be academic merit, research experience or a combination of these attributes, there is a need to ensure an equitable spread of awards across both universities and research programs. P riority will also be given to those applicants who choose a topic from the range of project scholarships described in this site. The Education Manager can provide further advice on this iissue.
Applications for general scholarships close on the last business day prior to 31st October each year, and will be accepted from 31st August onwards each year.
General Scholarships are only available to Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia and New Zealand.
